We can hear the trumpets playing, the horns calling, and the guitars strumming! Music is filling the streets of Downtown Statesboro in preparation of Mainstreet Statesboro’s April First Friday event. The event includes beautiful music by First Baptist’s The Starlights Big Band Orchestra, a variety of vendors, and more!

The Downtown Statesboro Development Authority’s April First Friday event, The Starlights, occurs Friday, April 5 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on the Courthouse lawn. Starlights main feature is the First Baptist’s Starlights Big Band Orchestra, which is a 15-member orchestra who play standard big band orchestra instruments with additional horns and flutes. They will perform oldies and popular hits such as “Georgia on my Mind” and “What a Wonderful World.”

“We are a group of local folks who have a good time playing music,” said Stacey Brown, Orchestra Director at First Baptist Church. “We love being able to play for our friends, family, and the community.”

Starlight will have a selection of vendors selling jewelry, accessories, food, drinks, and more! Also, there will lots of games and activities set up on the Courthouse lawn including a bouncy house provided by Party Harbor.

“Come out and dance to one of your favorite big band tunes,” said Allen Muldrew, Executive Director of Downtown Statesboro’s Development Authority.
