What an April it has been, and it is only the second week! Our office and downtown has had some very exciting events happen here in Statesboro. We started the month off with Fine Arts F1RST Friday which took place on the Courthouse Square from 5:30-8 on April 6. We had spectacular performances from Cold Duck Time, and Georgia Southern’s Southern Quartet and Southern Saxophones. The videos featured are part of our new YouTube channel, MainStreetStatesboro. We will be posting videos from our events, many including live entertainment performances. Check out some of our videos!
The fun didn’t stop after Fine Arts F1RST Friday! Saturday was the first Saturday of the Farmers Market season! Many local Statesboro and surrounding area community members came out to support their local farmers and artisans in the Sea Island Bank parking lot Saturday morning. The Farmers Market was themed “GSU day” which drew in a crowd of Georgia Southern University students and professors to the event. The Farmers Market will be continuing for the next 32 Saturdays from 9:00-12:30 in the Sea Island Bank parking lot. This past Saturday was a success and it was wonderful to see the community come together for such a great event. We are already getting excited for this Saturday’s Farmers Market on April 21st. Be sure to come out and shop local!
We had a great time having an ArtStop at ArtsFest! We had coloring pages for children to color with colored pencils to celebrate Spring and our event this upcoming weekend, Spring into Statesboro.
The Spring into Statesboro event will be an all day FREE children’s festival. There will be games, food, refreshments, vendors, and crafts and activities for the kids including a dunking booth, ring toss, balloon animals, creating pine cone bird feeders, and more! The Bulloch County Fire Department will also be downtown to give the children a chance to explore the fire truck. The event will take place on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on the Courthouse Square and surrounding streets. With the Farmers Market going on from 9:00-12:30, it’s the perfect festival to attend after you’re done shopping at the market! So bring your kids out, and enjoy the beautiful downtown Statesboro on a Saturday for free fun for you and your kids. We hope to see you there!
